Thessaloniki wedding photographer

Here bellow you will see a wedding photography portfolio of a wedding that took place at my hometown…Thessaloniki wedding photographer!

When I started as a wedding photographer (many years ago that was :), I was advertised only as Thessaloniki wedding photographer!

Things have changed since then and now it is the exemption when I am photographing a wedding at Thessaloniki and not the rule.

Images first and the story after them…

The story

A friend of mine called while I was on my way from Santorini island to Mykonos island, from one wedding to another!

That was a year ago and he explained to me that his wife’s goddaughter would like to book me as her wedding photographer.

He never told me how remarkable and fun person Sofianna is and this applies also to her fiancé … well, husband now…. Ilias!

That was for them to know and for me to find out 🙂

I got a first taste from the couples quality after meeting Sofianna’s exceptional parents!

As Sofianna and Elias are Uk residents and more specifically London, we met when they came to Greece for Christmas holidays (unfortunately, last year I did not have the chance to visit my beloved city).

Church and Venue

The ceremony was held at the historic small church of Byzantine architecture “Moni Vlatadon”.

Family and group photographs after that and just 30 minutes available to fulfil the “wedding portraits” photo session. I still have the impression that this was done with just one breath 🙂

“Allegro” was waiting…..well, guests at Allegro were waiting to be exact but you know what I meant to say!!

This beautiful venue is at the top floor of Thessaloniki’s Music hall 2 (more details at the links you can find at the credits section).

Weather

That was a VERY windy day and everybody was wondering if it would be wise to have the reception outside, if the fireworks would be able to be thrown and if the videographer drone would be able to fly! Everybody? Not really, Lazaros (Sofianna’s father) kept calm and cool and reassured everybody that the wind would go down at 21:15 and guess what…… that is what happen!!

Magician? No, Sailing man 🙂

Perfect

Everything run smoothly and as expected!!

The couple had no anxiety and continued to have fun all the time!

The venue justified the expectations and the wedding planners “Motif events” made sure to have everything organised in perfection!

Testimonial received from Ilias and Sofianna

“If you haven’t yet found your wedding photographer, Thanasis is the one! Regardless where you are getting married  he will turn the place into your wedding paradise with his photos. He will guide you but at the same time he will give you freedom so that you can be yourself. He ‘ll just be there to capture the correct moment, the passion kiss, the family tear, the loving hug, the friendship laughs, the crazy dancing moves, the smiles. He will turn your day into unforgettable memories that will last forever.

Thank you for everything T.

With love,

S + I”

Wishes

May I take the opportunity to wish to Sofianna and Ilia to have the same energy and big smile for the rest of their life!! Best, best, best wishes!!!

A few words about Thessaloniki

Thessaloniki (Greek: Θεσσαλονίκη, Thessaloníki [θesaloˈnici] ( also familiarly known as Thessalonica, Salonica, or Salonika is the second-largest city in Greece, with over 1 million inhabitants in its metropolitan area, and the capital of Greek Macedonia, the administrative region of Central Macedonia and the Decentralized Administration of Macedonia and Thrace Its nickname is η Συμπρωτεύουσα (Symprotévousa), literally “the co-capital”, a reference to its historical status as the Συμβασιλεύουσα (Symvasilévousa) or “co-reigning” city of the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, alongside Constantinople.

Thessaloniki is located on the Thermaic Gulf, at the northwest corner of the Aegean Sea. It is bounded on the west by the delta of the Axios/Vardar.

The city of Thessaloniki was founded in 315 BC by Cassander of Macedon. An important metropolis by the Roman period, Thessaloniki was the second largest and wealthiest city of the Byzantine Empire. It was conquered by the Ottomans in 1430, and passed from the Ottoman Empire to Greece on 8 November 1912.

Thessaloniki is home to numerous notable Byzantine monuments, including the Paleochristian and Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as several Roman, Ottoman and Sephardic Jewish structures. The city’s main university, Aristotle University, is the largest in Greece and the Balkans.
