Time and Light
Best Time and Light for various events in Greece. That is the subject of this post.
One of the most common questions is, what is the best time for photography and what kind of light quality to expect.

Circle of light
Time and Light. During sunrise, the sun is at the same level with us and produces a balanced light quality, with balanced colors and shadows. Very good time for photography but you will have to wake up and be active very early 🙂

Sun is up….Time and Light
As time passes the sun goes up, we have stronger light with more contrast and stronger shadows. Is that bad? It is a matter of aesthetics but even if somebody thinks that this time lacks in light quality, there is a plus…less people around, so ideal for people that do not feel comfortable being photograph around others and especially preferable for proposals!

The opposite direction
During afternoon and after the Sun reaches each peak, the opposite direction starts. Balanced light and less contrast, beautiful colors but more crowds and everybody wants to be photographed!!

Time and Light In a few words
Early morning, you have nice textured light and shadows, not too dramatic and the light is balanced. You have to wake up early and feel energetic and ready to be photographed. Do not force it unless you are a morning person.
Midday, it offers strong light, a lot of contrast, playful light. It is not consider to be the ideal time but there are less people being photographed, less tourists around as well.
Afternoon, this is the time that most people prefer and offers good light conditions, it is less hot and it has good light capturing results. More people around and more photo sessions on your way.
Sunset time is considered to be the most romantic time, golden hour is here and the quality of light offers that particular color cast. Just the golden hour though will not offer variety but just a certain type of images. This is the busiest time of the day so not ideal for proposals.

Problem solving
The photographer has his own methodologies and knowing how to treat the available light and the photographic equipment means that knows how to sort out any problem that lighting conditions may bring!

Decision making
What is the best time? Anytime!! The answer is the result of the questions, how important is the light quality, what kind of vibes you need to have (playful, happy, summery or dramatic, romantic, textured light) and how important is to have privacy or being discreet and of course what is your days schedule! The result of the answers on the above questions will provide the decision!
